The Fashionable mom
Social networking sites emerged as a necessary platform to connect and communicate with
our friends, near and dear ones. While telephones cringed to survive the trauma, cell phones did more than just talk. The chip with it’s memory and camera took off the audio-task and played with the individual, hour- long. However, Internet had more to give.
Video-conferencing reached out to conference rooms and classroom making the place
a virtual world of exchange. Twitter throbbed with intellectual romp, Face Book with individual dreams and fascinations, LinkedIn with Naukri opportunities and Orkut with FaceBook impressions. MySpace, Netlog followed suit and people had more business to do than just sit and watch. From the employee to the student, from the homemaker to the star world inhibitors these sites brought the imaginary world live in the keyboard. Therefore,
it was a bonus earned on vested interests. Productivity in the advertising spectrum thrived
on the delicious blogspots. Google emerged as a huge mall with all its sites available with the intellectual’s interests.
The Gentle hand?
Several sites worked to establish a mobile think-tank in forms of desktops, laptops, palmtops, mobiles etc etc. However, English in classrooms suffered from too much indigestion. Because of internet chatting, learning of proper English Grammar sickened pushing the British University to take a step ahead to introduce Face Book and Orkut in the curriculum. What would they gain by this? Though a 12% reduction would ‘slash the Government’s higher education budget’, it would do more in investing educational returns. A child’s mind on a technical device serves as an appetizer. The opportunity would with proper system administrations and system management yield positive fruits in the child’s academic front. No longer would the child feel the threat of losing but get a wider domain to scoop out a variety of sites to energize his spirit. Be it in terms of reference, saving sites etc, the child has a wider world where freedom will bring the child a wider scope to produce or at least take the initiative to browse through. The interest and the potential to gather speed would keep the child logged on in the internet lap.
The Super-mom graph.
At least a few trillion of this kind would agree that the internet serves not only as a mother but as a teacher as well. The human resources in the entire web-world would cull out the brain and the brilliance of the super kids who have already started mapping the Gen X agenda. The good that will breed, will see the rise in the humanitarian regime, a faculty all of us learn to master. Pratham’s ‘Annual Status of Education Report’ shows that schooling and private tuitions have seen a parallel development in the enrollment of students but the English awareness among Std II to Std V remains scary. The language items dotting various education and game sites of the internet would see a pattern of synchronized boost-steps to leveling the retardation line. The accessory websites barring the tabooed ones, in the school and college curriculum framework may add as necessary supplements to hone the natural potentials. The visual web-cosmos would create patterns in the brain to promote interest in the subjective, objective and scientific fields. So as to say, that the kid would naturally divert to from the world of entertainment to the world of logical, analytical reasoning without feeling the burden. This will help develop, healthy competition and self-development through continuous self-improvement.
The output.
This of course this will reduce the interpersonal gains. But if learning the right skills, and the right attitude is the onus, then such a decision would stand tall to unburden the child from exam trauma, be it in India , China and the other countries. The charismatic cadre in the child’s right to having education will perpetuate a lot of easy understanding and negotiations with some of the greatest scholars of our times. This will also reduce the suicide panic rampant among Mumbai planet these days. However, all that is required, is an open outlook like the British University . After all online tests will serve more and serve good in reducing the teacher’s burden of correcting illegible handwriting besides taking a tour of the education world in our very own planet.
